Wk 1:Viruses of the Mind

In this article i found it very interesting that the author, Richard Dawkins, compares us humans to computers. We and them get infected with viruses and some how spread them around to everyone who is exposed to it. At first, i asked myself is this an article about computers or about critical thinking but then as i got deeper into it, i realized what a great comparison has been made. The way that he talks about faith being an infection that most people carry and even doubt ourselves sometimes because since there is no evidence, we still believe it. The symptoms part kind of made me doubt myself. The way a human being can come up with all these statements and not be scared about others threatening him, is courageous as he describes that others have been killed for contradicting the term "faith and belief".
But at times i still ask myself, "is there really a superior person out there who actually controls everything around us?" i know there is no evidence of such, but i guess it gives people a fulfilled feeling of happiness to know that there is something out there much greater than us. As Dawkins talked about the part of "mysteries", i agree with him because that makes the human mind think that there might be a chance of it being true but at the same time, puts doubts out there. I am just still truly amazed on how this author takes time to research these things and actually publish them for others, like me, to read them and doubt our mind set and beliefs.
