WK 5/6: Expert Lecture

The film with Mark Juergensmeyer was interesting because it was nice
listening to somebody talking about events that most of us lived
through this past years. I thought it was interesting how he mentioned
that religion is being politicized and that politics is being
religionized. Its true, that is what we are seeing. If God wants
peace, then why does there have to be a war of faith. A war not
including monetary or political reasons, but of faith. Why do people
want other people to die. I thought it was mind boggling how mark was
interviewing the active terrorist behind the act of bombing the world
trader center in 1993, and the gentlemen said that only 200,000
thousand people would die if that would of happened. As if 200
thousand was a small number. I wonder if these people really want to
do this to others. Acts of terrorist, i still dont get the meaning
behind it. Revolutionists as Mark was talking about, were there not
because they wanted to do and hold guns. these young men which he said
could of been 19 years old, were there because their faith was on the
line. their pride.. or the islamic meaning of it, their honor and
individualism was on the line and they needed to defend themselves and
fight against the war of God.
